About Us
Workforce and education systems around the world are full of big promises and variable delivery. The Skills Agenda exists to change the conversation and then help amplify it through informative analysis and specialist journalism.
We are an independent global intelligence service covering skills, apprenticeships, workforce development and lifelong learning. It is the editorial policy of the publication not to accept advertising or commercial sponsorship for any of our output.
We are supported solely by reader subscriptions and external investment.
For the Global Skills Wire, our reporting spans five regions — Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Americas, the Middle East & Africa, and international organisations — with our skills policy correspondents tracking the policies, investments and innovations that are quietly reshaping how the world learns and works.
Guest writers are invited to publish on the platform, particularly where they can provide fresh insights into the future of work. Get in touch if that’s you!
In a nutshell: Today’s intelligence, tomorrow’s workforce.
Meet the Team
The Skills Agenda was founded by Tom Bewick, a policy consultant, researcher and writer with over 25 years’ experience working across government, the private sector and civil society to advance inclusion in the labour market through apprenticeships, leadership programmes and major demand-side innovations, such as being the main architect of UK-wide sector skills councils.
Tom continues to write his own UK-focused analysis alongside a network of specialist correspondents who cover international developments twice weekly through the Global Skills Wire (for paid subscribers only).
Stay tuned for more creative content additions later in 2026, including The Skills Agenda podcast and special live events.
An honorary professorial fellow at the Warwick University Institute for Employment Research, Tom’s academic book, Skills Policy in Britain and the Future of Work: A Historical Political Analysis, is published by Bristol University Press.
